Congratulations to Atty. Janaan Hashim who was nominated and won this year’s Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service from the U.S. District Court.  Word arrived in September that Magistrate Judge Sunil Harjani nominated Hashim for her work on an employment law case before the judge.  The case involved a Deaf plaintiff who filed pro se against his employer for violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Appointed by the court, Hashim represented the plaintiff in a pro bono capacity.

“Being recognized by the Court for what comes as second nature – helping those in need – is truly gratifying,” Hashim said adding, “I feel honored to receive this award from Chief Judge Pallmeyer, the judges of the Northern District of Illinois, and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.”
